How to get in touch with Debbie Sumski?

Does any know the whereabouts of Debbie Sumski? She used to live in Stanhope and was in the Class of 72?

Ralph Angelo Amendola

Hi Ralph

I hope you remember me...Dottie O'Brien/Barbato.....I don't know Debbie's address but I will try and find it for you....
How are you doing??? Glad to see someone from our class in this website.....
I wish we could have a class reunion where we can all connect again....
Take care

Dorothy, yes I remember. How are you?

Dorothy, how are you and your family? I wish too that our class would have a reunion. I think we're the only class in Netcong that never had an individual class reunion. That is sad. I've held off joining facebook; however, I finally came around in the past 2-3 months. Give it a try. I can't believe how many folks from our class are on it.
My wife Julia & I live in Atlanta. We have 2 children. We have a son Garrett a freshman in college and a daugther Maria, a sophomore in high school. Started late... huh! I'll go back and see if you're in Facebook.
All the best to you and your family. Tell Henry I said hello.
Ralph, actually I've been going by my middle name since leaving New Jersey. It's my middle name Angelo. It's my favorite uncles name. Angelo suites me but it's an adjustment for my old home town friends.

CLASS REUNION FOR 1961

PS - I did hear from Gary Swistak and 'the Cag', who expressed interest. We need more interest to make it happen.

REUNION FOR CLASS OF 1961

Several weeks/months ago I posted an inquiry regarding persons of the Class of 61 interested in having a 'get together' in the near future and/or a Class Reunion in 2011. I can't seem to located that posting so I'm not sure who, if anyone, from the NHS Class or 1961 viewed it.

If there is interest please indicate via this website and leave a method of contacting you. Email address would be great. Or you can go to the 'addressbook' and contact me via email.

Hoping all is well Classmates.

I see another old timer on the Conversation Board

Hi Harry Metzler,

It looks like you & I are the only ones from before the 60's who would like to talk to SOMEONE we know. It might be possible that our generation isn't too familiar with this site or maybe it's just been too long. We'll just have to keep trying.

You take care Harry & love to Ruth.

Happy Memorial Day

I got home a little while ago from the annual Memorial day parade here in Netcong/Stanhope. It never changes - the same bands, the same fire trucks, different generations of scouts, but the same troops. The same speeches by the same people - and who would want to change any of it! I'm thinking about all of our troops averseas, and praying that there won't be any new names on the honor list next year - there are too many now! God Bless America!

Class of 53

I go through this conversation page quite often & never see anybody from the class of "53" on it . If there is anyone out there who remembers me, I would love to hear from you. We had such good times in those days & it would be nice sharing some of those memories. Connie Bongi.

Facebook

Doesn't anyone at NHS use Facebook?
It's a great way to re-aquaint classmates.

Class of '59

Wow, I'm finally in again. Had some trouble since the website changed. So, Thank you to whomever helped me get in.

Our class is still meeting once a month, usually at Branda's in Budd Lake, so call me if you are interested in coming.
February is our annual Soup Day at the VFW hall in Netcong. This year it is Feb. 17 at 1:00. Again, if you are coming call me. We all make something.

We had a great Dec. get together at my house. It was good to see everyone, especially since we won't see the Snowbirds for a few months.

We are planning our 50th reunion in October. Keep the weekend of Oct. 9,10 and 11 free. I've sent notices to everyone for whom I had addresses or e-mails. Get back to me so the committee can continue planning.

If anyone out there knows where Joe and Anna Begley and Gwen Graef are, please let us know.

Sorry to report the passing of Margie Werner, Tex's sister. She is being waked today at Morgan's from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.

E-mail address change

I have changed my e-mail address in my personal account. However, this change is not reflected in the "address book" Class of 1961 information attached to my name. My new address is warrenbacker@comcast.net

How can I make this happen?

email address change

I edited my account to reflect my new email address but in the address book the old one still shows up. How do we adjust our account info? New email gwenandduane@windstream.net

american bandstand

Does anyone remember going to American Bandstand with Mr. Simmerano (Rocky) He had a dance club in Netcong. If you remember the year and month, or if you remember going there please let me know!

American Bandstand

Ralph"Simo"Simmerano
I remember it well, I remember standing in line outside the studio and after the show, the big garage door opened in the back and some of us went to Pop's Drug Store down the street where the regulars went after the show. We also went to Ted Steel's Dance Show in NYC.

AMERICAN BANDSTAND

I went, and I was either a sophomore or a junior, which would make it 1957 or 1958. The Knights of Columbus sponsored the dances in Netcong, also arranged the trip to Philadelphia. Everybody had a great time, and something to talk about forever.

Congratulation to Ellen and Mike Lewis and brother Ken Glover

Ellen and Mike were married in the most joyful wedding I have ever been to. They are fantastic people!!
I really enjoyed Ken's half hour of guitar playing. It brought back happy memories of music class in 1966 with Ken Ellen
and Henry Pearce.
I did not know Ken was a famous musician with Crystal Ship before he began teaching public school music.
Check out MaggiePowell.Net for the band's history. My sister Stephanie got a kick out of all the bands Crystal Ship opened for like Twisted Sister and Joan Jet and the Blackhearts.
Hats off to all you public school teachers!!!
I did that job for 2 years before I had to retire and take care of Mom and Dad.

I am so glad Ellen and Mike found each other.

Ellen's wedding

Go, Miss Ellie! Heartiest congratulations! A couple of my lacemaking friends are Civil War reenactors, and they will love to hear about this!

Congratulations!

My little sister, Ellen Glover has married Mike Lewis of Little Rock, Arkansas (Oct 18, 2008). Cindy White and her sister Stephanie were there as were 100 Civil War Re-enactor friends of the couple. Big brother, in 21st century tux, walked Miss Ellie through the pickets of the 1st Arkansas and delivered her to an authentically clad Corporal Lewis. Gowns were glorious. Half had been made by Miss Ellie. Historic accuracy was paramount. Cell phones were discouraged.

The ceremony was held in the historic memorial cemetary at White Sulpher Springs, Arkansas where a one time hotel resort was converted into a hospital for Southern soldiers wounded and with illness circa 1862-64. The creek was so sulpher infested, mosquitoes couldn't live there. As doctors, nurses, ministers and soldiers succombed to illness, bodies were hurriedly buried in mass graves in the woods behind where the building had been.

Memorial stones, marking the deaths, were aligned behind the nuptual tent.

Three cannons celebrated their union.

Four of Miss Ellie's five children were in attendance. (One is in the Service and was unable to travel).

An authentic 'chuck wagon' style dinner with period foods and accomodations was had after the ceremony and all then reported to the local church hall for the classic Ball Reception. The "57th Regiment String Band" and Colonel Dance Master led the crowd through the Grand Promenade, Virginia Reel, Broom Dance, Pat-a-Pat Dance, and others. A grand time was had by all.

Stanhope was nothing like this.

I welcome my new brother-in-law and congratulate him on his later-middle-age enthusiasm.

Ellen's vows included the offer of her Autumn years to one who allows her to be herself. She dropped her wig after the theatrics as it itched thus revealing her naturally grey and short post-breast-cancer- treatment hair.

Beautifuller.

Ken, the big brother.

Re: Dorothy Barbato

Hi Dorothy, Yes there is at least one person out here from the class of '72. Can't say I have any pictures to speak of from that era, but I do have many fond memories. I now split my time in Michigan and California where I live, but think often of those days gone by at Netcong High. It was nice to see a familiar name on here. Hope you and your family are doing well. Steve Cairns '72

Is anyone going to Netcong Day September 7?

Hi all:

Is anyone going to Netcong Day September 7?

I plan to check it out.

How are those grandchildren out there Ken Glover Sr. and Jerry (or is it Larry I still can't tell who is who) Lewis?

My daughter got married last May and still living in London England. She has told me "Mom if Matthew and I have kids will you move and help out with the kids?" I said "sure. " I am still enjoying retirement
but caring for grandchilren would be a great job for me.

Peace
Cindy White

grandson

HI Cindy,

We are enjoying our first grandchild - a boy, named Trace. He is a great baby who we get to watch two days a week. So I have moved down another notch in the hierarchy - I was already behind the Rottweiler, four horses, cats and whatever else shows up here. I am not retired yet but enjoy my job of running polygraph tests, working on cases and teaching in the police academies. So when are you moving to London? Jer

previous email addresses by class

Hey Bobbalouie
